So I know I told you guys that I would be making a Baby Page so as not to overload you with all my crazy ramblings/thoughts/baby shiz but I couldn’t figure it out. Technically NOT technical at all so from now on baby posts will be mixed with food posts. Hope that’s okay 🙂
I don’t want to talk about babies at all though today! I want to talk about breakfast. Yummy yummy breakfast. If haven’t noticed on the blog before (I know it’s kind of hard with the lack of posts…) but I get into suuuuper food routines. I have no problem eating the same meal a couple times a week or month. Example: Peas and Thank You Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna. HOOKED. But I couldn’t imagine eating the same thing everyday for lunch or dinner. Boring much? But breakfast on the other hand is a completely different story.
A few years ago I never used to eat breakfast at all. I used to sleep until noon (or 2 or 3), wake up and have lunch. Or if I did wake up before lunch time I would eat leftovers for breakfast. Spaghetti at 8am? Yes please. I’m not sure when I came to the realization how important that first meal of the day is, but now I can’t imagine not eating as soon as I get up. And not leftover rice with mushroom gravy either 😉
Breakfast is the one meal where I can eat the same thing every single day and not be bored. But it changes weekly.
Of course it started with oatmeal. SO many different variations.
Ashley’s scottish oats with granola and pomegranate seeds
same oats as above but with peanut butter cups (chocolate + oats = amazing)
buckwheat groat oatmeal with granola, raspberry jam, maple peanut butter and almond milk
quinoa flake oatmeal with goji berries, frozen raspberries and blueberries and almond butter
overnight oats – 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1/3 cup yogurt, 1 tbsp chia seeds, cinnamon and vanilla left to soak in the fridge overnight…..
topped with a pear, raspberry jam and granola in the morning
After my small oatmeal obsession, I moved on to french toast…
Ezekiel french toast with almond butter + almond milk mixture and frozen raspberries
topped with strawberries, greek yogurt and maple syrup
cinnamon spelt waffles with pomegranates and almond butter + almond milk
with greek yogurt and strawberries
waffle sandwich with 2 egg whites, raspberry jam, laughing cow and maple syrup
and pizzert babies (which totally double as an awesome afternoon snack ;))

Ashley’s banana cornmeal cakes became a staple for many weeks. Total no brainer. They are so filling and so delicious. I think I only stopped eating them because I couldn’t find buckwheat anywhere!

Just as obsessed I was with those bakes, I looove love Deb’s protein muffin. I’ve probably made it uhhhhhh…a couple 100 times? I make mine with brown rice flour, applesauce, egg whites, blueberries and vanilla bean powder. Deeelicious!

Aaand of course I could not forget eggs. I could eat eggs every single day and probably be a very very happy lady. There are soo many different kinds of ways to eat them! Over easy are my favourite though 🙂

Big omelette fail with broccoli, peppers and spinach, oranges and strawberries.
2 egg scramble with tons of ketchup, quinoa cakes with avocado, hemp hearts + goji berries and raspberries
Runny egg on two pieces of toast, avocado + veggie sausages
More runny eggs on a socca pancake (1/4 cup chickpea flour, 1/4 cup water, salt + pepper +italian seasoning) with avocado, cheese and salsa
I have totally saved the best for last. PANCAKES!! I am so so obsessed with this recipe right now. I add in 2 tsp of bee pollen, use Sun Warrior protein powder and have tried almost every fruit in them 🙂

Three night shifts make it a little bit hard to blog though!
But it didn’t stop me from taking lots of pics!!
1 hemp plus waffle, 2 scrambled egg whites, maple syrup and organic ketchup. With 1/2 an orange on the side.
Salad with spinach, asparagus, potatoes, onions, feta, and hummus. Small bowl of butternut squash soup.
It rained almost all day on Thursday. And then it started to hail!
Those vehicles had to pull over because it was coming down so hard! Lol and some kid on a bike got pelted! I felt so bad for him!
Mixed organic greens and arugula, fishy sticks, avocado, goat chedda and red peppers.
The dressing was HEABs faaaaabulous hummy dressing with some relish mixed in. So gourmet 😉
We had two birthdays at work this week! So we celebrated on our first night shift!
We had rhubarb crisp, brownies and vanilla ice cream.
Scottish oats with almond cashew butter, strawberries, granola. YUUUUUM!!
Mountain wrap with amy’s veggie burger, spinach, cucumbers, pineapple and hummas. Snap peas and butternut squash soup, too.
Whole wheat bow ties, organic tomato and basil pasta sauce with broccoli, garlic, mushrooms and edamame beans.
Topped with nutritional yeast.
and for a snack I took 1/2 an orange, some strawberries and cherries.
I got called in for overtime on Saturday night and I didn’t have any time to eat breakfast. So I made a lunch/supper combo 😉
Spinach with leftover pasta, avocado, cucumbers, red peppers and mushrooms.

Andrew’s cousin came over for supper and brought an awesome tofu dish and Andrew made a ginger stirfry.
This was sooooo goood!! Tofu and I aren’t always one, but this was frickn’ awwweseome.
I also made some more muffs for the work peeps!
The platoon I worked with last night is the best!! If I had get transferred to a different shift, I would definitely want to go there 😉
We had kind of lupper with my parents today who are in the city for my aunt and uncle’s anniversary. We went to Las Palapas again and it was really goood. I am just starting to get hungry now and it’s been about 4 1/2 hours and Andrew is making french onion soup 😉
There is a few things that I want to talk about tomorrow so PLEASE COME BACK!!
I am trying to channel SUMMER over here even though it has been raining for the past couple days!

I took last night off from posting so I’ll be playing a little bit of catch up tonight 🙂
Yesterday morning I got up fairly early to make granola bars for a SMALL TOWN BLOOGER MEET UP with this coolio girl.
I had a pretty light breakfast because I knew we were going to one of my favorite places for lunch.
One egg with organic ketchup and a pear.
I met Allison at City Perk and we had an awesome visit! She is so nice and it was awesome to meet another Saskatoon blogger! It was a sweet meet.
I had a romaine salad with some kind of vinaigrette that I can’t remember. Whateves, it was awesome anyway 🙂
I also had the best unpictured London Fog I’ve ever had in my life.
For supper Andrew and I went out for Indian!!
We went to India Palace and I had the matar paneer.
Oooh multiply this plate by about 3. And add some naan bread, too.
Hells yes I love Indian food.
We were going to go see Nightmare on Elm Street last night but bailed and went mini golfing instead.
And indulged in more food. Obvi.
Dessert was a yummy mess of vanilla frozen yogurt, one of my granola bars (with added marshmallows) and strawberries.
It was a pretty ballin’ date night if you ask me.
Today I got woken up with breakfast in bed!!

I made this shiz myself. Andrew did go to the store this morning and get all the ingredients though 😉
Baked egg + 2 egg whites, broccoli, fresh dill, red peppers and mushrooms with a tsp of milk on top baked in the oven at 350F for about 15 ish minutes and then smeared with goat cheese. Served with 1/2 a piece of The Big 16 bread and some grapes.
May for Andrew is Mooostache Moustache May.
Basically he and some guys from work grow mooostaches in May.
Right now my boyfriend looks like this handsome gentleman.
He would kill me if I put the pictures up I took of him today, but I did snag a picture of someone else participating in Mooostache May.
I skipped lunch today by accident and made up for it with a big supper.
We made pita pizzas and I also had sugar snap peas and steamed cauliflower with mushroom gravy.
The pizza had organic tomato and basil pizza sauce, mushrooms, onions, red peppers, broccoli and the tiniest sprinkle of goat chedda.
The mushroom gravy had the usual suspects of laughing cow, almond milk, tons of pepper, fresh dill and mushrooms.
Dessert was EPIC.
In my books anyway.
I don’t even have words for how good it was.

I sure am!! Most of you, probably not. I am on days off so Monday is the sweetest day this week 🙂 Sorry I haven’t been here for the last couple of days, I just feel like I have too much going on between night shifts. You understand. I have lots of pics of the last two days but I’ll just spotlight a few of the food ones so I’m not here ALL NIGHT LONG (all niiiight).
I don’t know which day I got these, but they were the highlight of my last couple days so they are going to go first.
Orchids are my faaavorite! Orchids and tulips. Andrew is a good boyfriend. Haha.
Some breakfasts included homemade hashbrowns, peppers, mushrooms and a poached egg
waffle sandwich with two egg whites, lc and jam. Topped with a tbsp of maple syrup and smushed.
spinach smoothie with 1 cup original unsweetened almond milk, 3/4 banana, a handful of blueberries, two big handfuls of spinach and 3 strawberries.
Lunches are sort of mixed with dinners because I just eat all night long on night shifts. Really. I should probably get help.

I had a super shweet supper date with my dad and brother tonight. Fish taco. The first bite was kind of raunchy but it got better. Then I put too much habanero sauce on and burnt my mouth. FIRE MOUTH.
So now I’m hungry again. Hmmmm….I have a super craving for theeese pancakes that I saw yesterday, but I will wait for breakfast 🙂
And now, last but not least….MY PACKAGE FINALLY CAME!!! I have been wanting these for the longest time and my mom finally ordered them for me 3 weeks ago. I can’t tell you what they are just yet because that would be no fun, but trust me, it’s going to be awweeesosoososme!!
I am very sad that I didn’t get to participate in National Grilled Cheese Day 😦 but I’m going to try to make up for it tomorrow. Do-overs are allowed here right???

Sooo…about Starbucks Awake tea latte. Shiz kept me up until 5 in the morning!!! I know I slept in late because I had just gotten off night shifts, and then went in and worked some overtime but REALLY?! 5:00 am??? SO LAME BALLS. Caffeine effects me like crazy. Rrrrr. Anyone else in the same boat? I opted to cancel overtime today. It was a pretty good decision because I cooked instead! Which means lots of pics for all of yous. Starting with brunch! I brought back the poached eggie and hollandaise sauce. ABSOLUTELY started my day off right.
Silverhills Mack’s Flax bread (if you can find this, buy it. I am so obsessed) with a poached egg and steamed spinach. Looks a little dry though, yeah?
BAM! The tomato hollandaise sauce was extremely easy and extremely delushious. It was one laughing cow wedge (what else), a little bit of almond milk (the unsweetened regular if I haven’t mentioned that before), lots of pepper and about 4 chopped up cherry tomatoes. So simple yet sooo good. I used my finger to wipe up the excess. And then licked my finger clean 🙂
Andrew and I hit up the grocery store to grab a few things. As per usual we should of grabbed a cart. I could literally spend hours in the grocery store. Especially ones that have just had a makeover. I never just shop at one – I always switch it up. We are going to both Trader Joes and Whole Foods while we are on vacation this year and I AM FRICKIN OUT OF MY MIND ECSTATIC. That is my vacation haha.

I was starving after shopping I just haaad to
sample eat some honey mustard pretzels. I. need. to. get. more. NOW.
Ah supper. I had been creeping Janetha’s wonderful blog this morning and could not get over the yummy yummy carrots that her and her future hubby made. I LOVE cooked carrots. The recipe is here and it really is a five star recipe. ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ It’s supposed to serve 4 but uh Andrew and I demolished them. So I say it serves 4 regular people or 2 hungry monsters.
We had 2 portobello mushrooms in the fridge that needed to be used so Andy decided to stuff them and bbq them. YUM. We mashed two laughing cow wedges (of course haha), chives, red and green peppers, dill and cayenne pepper together and stuffed the cleaned out mushrooms. Topped with sharp old goat chedda and tada! Lush.
While Andrew was making the rest of his supper, I decided to do an impromptu photo shoot with Beasley. FAIL. Every time I went to take a picture he looked away!
He finally looked at me but only to give a diva no-more-pictures look.
Bean salad was also had. I blanched the beans in boiling water for about 5 minutes and then transferred them over to an ice bath.
I used this recipe for the salad.
Lean Mean Bean Salad
1 bunch of green beans
1 cup of chickpeas
3/4 cup kidney beans
2 tbsp fresh oregano
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp white wine vinegar (Or regular white)
2 tsp stoneground mustard (I’m sure any kid would work)
salt and pepper
half a red onion thinly sliced
1 clove of garlic, minced
Blanch the beans for about 5 minutes and then toss into a bowl with ice water. Dry completely and then mix with the other beans and onion. Whisk the remaining ingredients together and pour over beans. Toss well to combine.
Because I didn’t feel like this was enough food yet (GAH, my eyes are always waaay bigger than my belly) I sliced a few strips of zucchini, brushed them with olive oil, salt and pepper and the boyf threw them on the bbq.
Only 2 turned out (too thin, lesson learned) but they were so so good! I mixed some goat cheese and dill together, spread it on and rolled them up.

Even though Andrew doesn’t want his picture on the blog yet, he was totally okay with me putting pictures of his food on here 🙂 So for all you meat eaters, here ya go. I have no idea what this is called though haha. He used my little wonton cups as a base and filled them with bbq chicken, veggies and goat chedda.
After supper was finished, Andrew and I took Beasley for a late night walk. So glad we did because there were the C-R-A-Z-I-E-S-T northern lights out! You don’t usually get to see them in the city so it was a sweet treat.
When we got back we both had bowls of icecream before Andrew went to bed.

Heeey! Happy Easter! Hope you had a great day! I got off work this morning to Andrew leaving to work overtime so I had a loooong sleep in an empty house. It was so quiet and I was so tired that I slept until almost 3:30pm! Crazy. But it felt so damn good.
I took some very unappetizing food to work last night, but I know you won’t judge 😉 Breakfast/lunch/whatever was some unpictured overnight oats. Lunch/dinner/whatever was leftova pasta, leftover lasagna inards with goat chedda. Obvi I heart leftovers. ♥ This didn’t even make it out of the house.
I cooked 3 egg whites with some dill, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions and slathered a laughing cow wedge on it.
Also in my lunch was a salad, a piece of toast with cashew butter, apple chips, a banana and some organic applesauce. I ATE EVERYTHING. Plus some. I was lurking around the leftover appies from the night before. Ugh. Do you find that after eating lots of crappy food the next day you’re starving? That seems to always happen to me. My body CRAVES fruits and veggies after appetizer nights lol.
After my super duper sleep in today, I totally skipped breakfast and lunch and went straight for supper at about 5:30. I was craving something really yummy so I baked some baby potatoes, steamed some broccolini and made a cheesy lemon dill sauce to go on top. YUUUM. (Don’t mind the unyummy picture of the sauce)
The cheesy lemon dill sauce was just 2 laughing cow wedges, approx 2 tbsp of almond milk, a squeeze of lemon, lots of fresh dill and lots of pepper.
I went in to work tonight for some overtime and brought a new to me Starbucks latte. I had a grande Awake tea latte with nonfat milk. SOOO GOOD. I usually get the Earl Grey latte but this is sooo good. I think I might have to get one tomorrow!
The shift I was working with tonight had an appetizer night. Haha I know. How did I get so lucky?! I swear works actually gets done while were there. Their appie night was so much better than ours though! They had chocolate crepes with whipped cream and raspberry sauce, veggie samosas, crackers with cream cheese and jalapeno jelly, jalapeno poppers, caesar salad, a taco dip and probably way more stuff that I can’t remember. They were so nice to let me eat with them! LOVE ‘A’ PLATOON. I’m probably going to go in and work more overtime with them tomorrow 🙂
So that was my night/day. Things might be a little screwed up with my eating because of the night shifts and overtime but hopefully it will figure itself out before my mom gets here on Wednesday! See you tomorrow!!
PS. My friend Sheena had a baby girl yesterday named Tensley! Isn’t that just the sweetest name? Sorry I had to share but I am just soo excited! I cannot wait to meet her 🙂
Hi! How is everyone?? Hopefully you’re having a really good weekend. Mine has been going just fine. Did you celebrate Earth Hour tonight?? We sure did! We shut all of our lights off, took Beasley for a walk (his 2nd one today 😉 ) and then came home, lit some candles and shared the So Delicious coconut milk vanilla bean icecream I bought the other day.
This is my third year participating and it just warms my lame little heart how many people do this. The Sydney Opera House and the Great Pyramids of Giza even shut off their lights!

What kind of things do you do to help the earth? We do small things everyday like use cold water to wash our clothes, use reusable grocery bags and sandwich bags, unplugging appliances when we aren’t using them, and recycling as much as possible! And in the summer we compost 🙂
Backtracking to yesterday.
Three egg whites, goat cheese, 1/4 of an avocado, chopped tomato, dill and an apple.
We had a popcorn night at work (cuz my new supervisor is so cool) and she brought her air popper, I brought some popcorn and another girl brought a bunch of popcorn seasonings. I OVERLOADED myself with delicious popcorn. It was crazy.
I only took one picture of what I took for lunch last night. I didn’t think you needed to see another bowl of potato salad or another wrap so I left them out. Andrew made a quesadilla and left me half to take to work. It was curry ish and awesome.
Work was busy busy busy last night!! Ugh. Sometimes I wish crime would take a vacay LOL. But then I guess I wouldn’t have a job, right? 😉
B-fast today was oatmeal with chia, raisons, blackberries, honey, quinoa maple cereal and almond milk. Weird, I know. I had a craving for all of those things and they tasted decee together.

I knew we were having pizza at Andrew’s brother’s house tonight so I had a small meal so I wouldn’t go overboard once I got there. My brother dropped off some soup he made – butternut squash, pumpkin, carrots, cloves and curry – and DAMN! Sooo yummy!! I had it with a smear of goat cheese and whole wheat wrap.
I still managed to have 2 1/2 pieces of veggie pizza 🙂
Time for bed! Or time to have another snack?? Hahaha probably a little bit of both. See you guys tomorrow!!! BYYYYYYE!!

Holla! IT’S FRIIIDAY!!! Awesome possum. I am up waaay too early and tonight is gonna be pretty painful! Haha but that’s nothing new. I had LOTS of eats yesterday aaaaaand…..drumroll please…..
I RAN FOR 10 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!!!
One whole mile! No stops! I know that might not be a big deal to most people, but I don’t think I’ve ever ran that long before. So proud 🙂 I felt so great after!! And I’m so looking forward to doing it again!
Now onto the foooods.
B-fast was a smoothie because I had a nail appointment and I had to mooooove.
I was lurking on the Living Harvest website and found this great smoothie recipe. I halved it.
Vanilla Strawberry Banana Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 tbsp Vanilla Spice protein powder
Blend it and drink it.
When I got home I decided to make some Quinoa Protein Muffins found here. All I did was change the flava of protein. (No idea why I’m so into protein powder right now. Anything to help me stay fuller longer!)
My muffins did not turn out as well as I was hoping. Mine crumbled so I stuck them together with cashew butter to have as a snack at work.
While these were cooking I went and did my run 😉 Oh and because I had made a tons of quinoa, I made some of Angela’s maple quinoa cereal. Check it out riiiiight here!. I have actually made this three times now and burnt it everytime!! This was my best attempt yet though, ha.
I haven’t actually had any of this yet, but Andrew had it for breakfast (with almond milk I think) and he said it was gooood. Win.
I took Bizzle for a long walk and it went by so quickly now that I have new songs on my ipod. I hadn’t changed the songs in 2 years!! Shameful, absolutely. But I rock out now 🙂
I had eggs for lunch! I am so addicted I have been licking my plate clean for the last three days. I mashed some blackberries instead of using jam this time and IT IS DA BOMB. I also finished up the rest of the stuffed focaccia inards (spinach, red pepper, pine nuts, feta, onion) and a piece of Squirrley bread.
I totally didn’t do Raw Food Long Change. Deferred success. So I made orange and white potato salad. Another win.
Sweet Potato Salad
3 tbsp plain organic yogurt
1 1/2 tbsp low fat mayo
squeeze of lemon juice
1/2 tsp vinegar
1 tsp stoneground mustard
tiny bit of fresh grated ginger
salt and pepper
Use as much of everything to taste.You can’t really mess this up 🙂
I made a wrap using the leftover veggies from supper the night before. I just added goat cheese and sprouts.
Blue Lagoon smoothie is next. Or purple lagoon. Whateves. Sooo good. Same recipe as before, just subbed in a cup of Saskatoon berries that we picked and froze in the summer. Now, please don’t judge the fact that it’s in a jar. I had no to-go cup. I tried to pretty the pic up 😉

Hey guys! Happy hump day! I was home from work sick today 😦 and am just starting to feel better. I started to feel icky last night after supper and when I got to work this morning it just seemed to be getting worse. I didn’t feel like I had the flu, I just felt off. Not me. So I came home, took some Super Orange Emergen-C and had a loooong sleep. I woke up, had a little bite of lunch and fell back asleep. Obviously my body needed it. I’ve been drinking lots of tea today and Andrew made supper with lots of ginger to help with my nausea. Feeling A LOT better now 🙂

Lunch was supposed to be a sundried tomato with more goat cheese, roasted veggies and radish sprouts, oranges, leftover salad, granola bar, protein muffin with cashew butter and cottage cheese. Lunch ended up being just the wrap, honey lemon tea and another nap.
We had an early dinner tonight and it was excellent. Brown rice and veggie stirfry.

Orzo Salad with Chickpeas and Dill
(Pretty sure this recipe came from Cooking Light)
1 cup uncooked orzo
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
1/2 cup feta
1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
1 can chickpeas, rinsed
1 1/2 tbsp EVOO
1 tbsp water
1/2 tsp salt
2 cloves of garlic minced
lemon juice to taste ( approx 1 lemon)
Cook pasta, rinse with cold water and set aside.
Combine pasta with onions, cheese, dill and chickpeas in a large bowl.
Combine lemon juice and remaining ingredients in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk.
Drizzle over pasta and toss to coat.
Feta, Spinach and Pine Nut Stuffed Focaccia
1 recipe focaccia bread
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 a red onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
Lots of spinach (6 cups?)
1/2 cup feta
handful of pine nuts
2 tbsp lemon juice
salt and pepper
2 tbps almond milk
1 tbsp parm cheese
Preheat over to 375F.
Heat oil in a pan and add onion and garlic and cook until onion is clear, about 3 min. Add as much spinach as you can into the pan and stir until it wilts. Add the rest of the spinach and repeat. Take off burner and stir in feta, pine nuts, salt and pepper and lemon juice.
Place focaccia dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread it into a rectangle ish shape and then put spinach mixture lengthwise over half of dough, leaving a little border. Fold other half of dough over filling; press edges around to close the bread up.
Mix milk and parm and brush over focaccia. Cut a few diagonal slits across.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until brown on top.
